Muqarnas Design Workshop

Discover the elegance of muqarnas - architectural works of art that, like flowers, appear in countless forms shaped by regional and historical traditions. Their beauty may lack the fragrance of real blossoms, but their endurance is unmatched: many examples have survived for centuries, preserving the creativity of past civilizations.

In this hands-on workshop, participants are introduced to the octagonal muqarnas system and guided through several foundational layouts. In a short time, attendees begin designing muqarnas on their own. Using boxes filled with custom 3D-printed, lego-like units, participants first follow a sample model and then freely explore the system to create their own original variations. This engaging experience offers an accessible entry point into one of the most intricate traditions of Islamic architectural design.

Workshop language is English.
